I've done a lot of SEO and link building for international clients, and while working in the Nordics has the same opportunities and challenges as in other countries, there are at least two things that are different in the Nordics compared to, say, English markets like the UK and US.
Google capabilities of interpreting the Nordic languages are underdeveloped compared to e.g. the English-speaking markets. That means the SERPs are generally less packed with SERP features giving the result set a more “traditional” look (10 blue links).
In general, you can be a bit more aggressive in your link building when it comes to anchor texts and the types of sites you build links from.

Investing in foreign markets makes sense!
Why does ordering content and distributing it on foreign portals via WhitePress® platform make sense? Investments can quickly turn into profits because all the websites that are available on our platform have been carefully selected, and we rate all of them. Our advanced search engine allows advertisers to choose the publisher that best suits their business goals.
Scandinavia - a rapidly growing area
For several years, Scandinavia, which is part of the Nordic countries, has been one of the most important and fastest-growing areas in the context of foreign sales. The cooperation between Scandinavian countries (Denmark, Sweden, and Norway) and the rest of the world grows rapidly on a year-to-year basis.
It is also worth noting that the region in question is one of the most rapidly developing areas in economic terms in the 21st century. This makes entrepreneurs from all around the world more and more willing to invest and expand the reach of their businesses to rich countries in Northern Europe.
E-commerce market in the Nordic countries
Sweden is a country where online shopping is part of everyday life for almost all citizens. As many as 96% of Swedes choose e-platforms as their preferred place to go shopping. Other Northern European countries can also boast high results: Norway 93%, Denmark 88%, Finland about 90%.
What distinguishes Swedes, Norwegians, Danes and Finns?
Swedish consumers are eager to test new technological solutions. The most popular international e-shop in Sweden is Zalando. Last year, 41% of consumers shopped there. They mostly choose home delivery without a signature (31% of citizens).
The Danes are masters of fast delivery, and almost every ordered product is delivered on time. What is more, people living in Denmark spend the most money per capita in online shopping in the Northern Europe region. Like in Sweden, Zalando is the dominant online shopping platform in Denmark. Home delivery without signature is also the most frequently chosen method of parcel delivery for Danes (34% of residents).
Compared to the Danes and Swedes described above, Finns prefer delivering parcels to a parcel locker much more than a self-pickup without a signature (34%). For citizens of this country, fast delivery is not a priority, so they usually do not mind a longer delivery time. Zalando is the most popular online shopping service for Finns.
As you might have guessed, Norwegians most often make online purchases via the Zalando platform. However, it is worth noting that in most cases, the method of delivery chosen by the Norwegian community is personal pickup from a service point (52% of consumers).
How to publish on Nordic portals?
We have mentioned many times that we want our platform to be very simple and intuitive to use. Therefore, what is worth remembering is that in WhitePress®, the panel for ordering publications is available in your native language version, no matter whether you publish on your local market or abroad. Additionally, as an advertiser, you can pay in any currency that suits you.
We are growing faster than inflation
In 2019, we started our expansion into foreign markets, starting with countries such as the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary.
Today, you can order publications via WhitePress® in 27 countries. Western Europe, the Middle East, countries across the ocean, and now the Nordic countries. What's next? Keep track of our news to learn which market will be available next!
